Room smells develop in hotels, dormitories, homes, offices and other interior spaces from moisture, body odors, food, beverages, pets and the occasional smoker. Fumes and odors get embedded in the carpet, the furniture, the drapes and bedding, as well as the bathroom, and can also the cling to walls, ceilings and other surfaces. Microorganisms often thrive in this type of environment as well.

Even after the room is cleaned, odors may return because all surfaces are not part of the cleaning protocol. Ozone is very effective because it attacks them at their source. As the O3 is circulated throughout the room or facility, it oxidizes the odors on all surfaces. Ozone is a very active molecule that will follow the same path that the odors took to eliminate room odors, even down into cracks and crevices. O3 also attacks the cell structure of microorganisms, killing mold and mildew.

Solution: To remove room smells, an OdorFree is brought into the room and plugged in. Open any closets and cabinets. Set the treatment time depending on the severity of the odors. The doors are then closed and the area vacated for treatment. Allow the O3 to dissipate for at least an hour prior to re-occupying the space.

Note: Many rooms have their own separate A/C unit. However, if there is central system with a return vent in the room, it is best to tape the return duct closed with plastic or paper, and and also close the supply vents. This will keep the O3 inside the room to do its sanitizing work and not let it be circulated into other rooms.

When the next occupant enters the room, there is no trace of an odor from the previous occupant. And there is no residual smell from deodorizers that try to mask odors, which many people find objectionable. The new occupant will enjoy a fresh smelling room, and this has a great impact on how they feel about the facility.

Note: Most companies will select the smaller Suite 700 if only moderate sized room odor removal is needed.

The Villa 1000 has a variable ozone output control that will cover up to 4000sq ft and a timer that can be set from 1 to 12 hours to automatically turn the unit off when the sanitizing is completed. In addition, a "Hold" selection on the timer allows for extended treatment (until it is manually turned off) in order to eliminate more deeply ingrained odors.
